NEED HELP restoring windows vista to factory settings.
(10 posts)My toshiba laptop hasnt been functioning properly and I would like to recover to factory setting but i havent found an option to do so with. I dont have an hdd recovery and downloaded iso recovery discs havent worked. I called the company and they said I would have to buy a factory settings disc for $30, which is lame. I would just like to know what my options are and if anyone has a guaranteed method or something. I already moved all of my important files off my comp and I am ready for a complete factory settings wipe. Its a toshiba satellite A205-S5859 with vista home premium, and it has a webcam and wireless card built in(just throwing that out there). All comments are welcome except my choice in comp, it was a gift. Please help me, i really miss my computer. Help me WHS, lol.
Try this,
Shut down the computer.
Turn the PC back on and hit the F8 key repeatedly until the Advanced Boot Option Screen appears.
Click 'Repair Your Computer' if you are not already on it and then press ENTER
Choose your country and click OK
On the 'System Recovery Options Screen' click 'Restore Application' which is the last option.
Follow the on-screen instructions
When prompted, click on 'Full Factory Recovery'
'Next'
Click 'Yes'
You will notice for a while it seems like nothing is happening, give it some time.
After some minutes, recovery will complete and you click 'Finish'
Bigmeatson Hi
I have a toshiba L300 and assuming accessing the recovery partition is the same in yours, try this.
With your computer completely turned off. Hold down the 0(zero) button and turn your computer on. Immediately, while still holding down the zero button press and hold down the F10 button. Continue to hold down both buttons until your computer starts beeping. This brings up the recovery partition. Just follow the screens from there.
More options,

One of those is lvct's suggestion I think.
I have also seen reference to pressing 1.
LH: i did what you said and got to the system recovery options screen I am prompted with these options, startup repair, system restore, windows complete restore, windows memory diagostic tool, commad prompt, and toshiba recovery wizard. Ive tried restoring from an earlier point but hasnt worked.
lvct: it beeped like crazy but nothing happened, it continued to start up the computer.
Are the disks that don't work, one's you burned using the Toshiba Recovery Wizard ?
If not, I would, before you try anything else, use it to create them.
well, ive tried isos, but when i open it up it asks for the 1st disc, which i dont have, let alone all of them. I also cant find my recovery disc creator, which should be in my programs but its not there. :[
Toshiba Recovery Wizard, is your Recovery disks creator. It is also the place for the Factory Restore.
Read through the link I posted before,

Return the pc to an out-of-box state (page 5)
The confusion lies in the fact that Toshiba do not seem to be consistent in their methods
