Gp4 How To Install Mods On. Installing mods on the iOS. Hey everybody can someone give me a tutorial on how to install mods & tracks on gp4 because i am a. Run it, CSM will open and unpack it. Start the mod from CSMafter sel;ecting your configuration of how you wish to run the mod, driver, race typer etc. Select start. CSM will then proceed to swap out all files within GP4, replacing the wads with the mod. Ah right I was under the impression you couldn't get it running with win 10. What are the essential mods I would install? Gp4 official patch no cd exe.

Ranging from the necessary GPxPatch to the 'Makes for easier mod use and more' ZaZ tools, here is a selection of the more popular/useful tools for GP4.

GPxPatch

All but necessary to run the game, GPxPatch by SDI has existed in some for another since 2001, and has supported GP4 since the game's release.

Gp4 How To Install Mods

(If you came here after following the 'Getting Started' guide, you'll already have this installed.)

Composed of various modules, all of which can be enabled and disabled independently of one another, GPxPatch is easily the most important utility for the game.

  • The GPxTrack module allows, as its name suggests, the use of custom tracks within the game, and enables easier swapping of the default track slots.

  • GPxSet allows for the loading of custom physics files, custom performance files - governing such things as team power and reliability, driver performance and performance range among others - as well as various settings related to in-game sessions.

  • GPxLap has numerous features, ranging from detailed in race information about race gaps, pit stops and - in 'hot-seat' games - information about player turns, through to allowing text logging of entire races and providing various means of ensuring the integrity of laps completed which is used heavily in hotlap leagues.

  • GPxPatch Speed and Time (GPxSAT) that enables the display of TV-Style graphics pertaining to positions, gaps and other information. (Example of the 'Digital 2010' style)

  • GPxCInfo is responsible for allowing the display of various pieces of car information through user designed panels. Current and Suggested Gear, Long/Lat G-Force, No. of Gear Changes per lap, Speed, Revs, Throttle and Brake input and much more. By and large, the most popular use for this module is the implementation of TV-Style Speed/Revs/Gear/Throttle/Brake display.

  • GPxSound, originally created to enable 3D sound in earlier titles, is still rather useful for GP4; Through GPxSound, it is possible to define your own soundset for various in-game events, including alerts for Brake and Throttle failure and things such as fastest and personal best laps.

ZaZ Tools

Comprised of four key components, ZaZ Tools (Download from either GP4 Central or GP4DB) makes managing multiple mods and tracks a breeze, and helps with mod building.

  • CSM (Carset Manager); A front-end GUI for mod managing that loads mods into GP4 when it is run and unloads them when exiting the game. It provides mod makers with the ability to create various configuration files - these can govern anything from the resolution of textures to be loaded to what GPxCInfo elements are displayed - and provides an easy to use panel for users to select from the options provided by mod makers.

  • TSM (Trackset Manager); Other than CSM, this is the tool most likely to be used by the regular player. It allows the user to store custom tracks in a manageable file structure on their hard drive, facilitates the placing of these tracks into Tracksets which can be loaded via TSM, and provides a GUI for editing the most important aspects of a track's 'Magic Data', the information that governs all manner of track stuff, from number of laps in a race, through to AI pit stop strategies and much more.

  • Easywad; Many of GP4's important files are of the .WAD type. Essentially archive files, these contain many important things such as car models and textures, animations and track models and textures. Easywad allows for easy navigation and extraction from these archives, as well as making re-injecting files easier.

  • Slimtex; GP4 uses - except for a few special instances - .TEX files for it's textures. Slimtex allows for batch & individual scaling, rotating, mirroring and renaming of these textures, as well as converting between .TGA (Editable in most picture editing softwares), .GPI (used by GP4 in menus for Driver pictures etc.) and .TEX format.

GP4 Builder

Perhaps Lo2K's greatest achievement, GP4 Builder (Download from RealGPx) is a tool on par with GPxPatch for it's necessity.

Want to build or edit a track for GP4?

You need GP4 Builder.

It's that simple.

While cars, helmets and the like can be made without GP4 Builder - If you can find an older version of Z-Modeler and work out how to use it - track creation would not be possible without GP4 Builder.

While you won't need it for day to day use, most people will want to play with a custom helmet shape or something like that at one point.

Must Have Mods:

While the game and it's original 2001 package is still perfectly playable today thanks to the game's innate awesomeness & tools like GPxPatch, one the biggest draw cards for first-time players - or those returning to the game - will be the user-created content.

Individual cars, helmets, pit crews, tyres and more are all available for you to compile into your own personal mod, but, if you want to jump straight in to a mod, then the following are very highly recommended.
